Digging For Gold

When a holiday is linked to a specific color, it may seem hard to get that chic look! Looking like you’re in search of a pot of gold isn’t the route you want to take, being festive is lots of fun, but you can make it a fashionable statement that will last awhile. It’s the luck of the Irish giving you looks that will last long after you’ve packed away that shamrock decor. There are a few simple pieces that will leave you geared up to take on St. Patrick's day!

Being festive doesn't mean you have to go all out and wear all green! The most chic outfits are those that can be wore anytime during the spring! Spence and Lane has a great selection to make your outfit a statement that'll last forever! A simple statement necklace, a green cardigan, a dress, or a romper will make you shamROCK. Nothing says spring like a simple pop of color added to your dash of green, even take it back a season and mix in those dark colored cardigans, jeans, or utility jackets and make your outfit last even when the shamrock decor is gone.
Head on over to Spence and Lane and find your "pot of gold" on Thursday, March 17th. You can draw anywhere from 25%-50% off your entire purchase of regular priced items!  May the odds be in your favor!

Talking Color

We’re mid February, it’s time to start counting down the days until Spring. It’s time to let go of our neutrals and sprinkle some bright colors back into our wardrobes. It’s time to let our clothes give way to excitement and optimism.

Every season, Pantone releases the Top 10 Colors for Men’s and Women’s fashion. As trends emerge, it’s easier to differentiate tones and hues to find the exact shade that’s popping up throughout. Laurie Pressman said that Pantone’s Color Institute saw a movement toward very calm shades contrasted with specific pops of bright primaries for the spring of 2016.

Rose Quartz is as pretty as it sounds. This beautiful color will make you dream of those pretty pink rose petals and remind you of your blushing cheeks. Serenity will leave you feeling weightless and airy. The secret to mastering the spring palette is to make your own combination of the solid tones. You can mix and match the colors to achieve any sophisticated or elegant look. Spence and Lane recently added the 'Cozy Rosy Top' in extended sizes which will leave a few of you ladies with a combination of Rose Quartz and Green Flash if you're buying!

 Until next time,

Go Red! Prevent the Spread!

Go RED!

Go Red for Women states that “knowledge is power, and when you have all of the facts you can become an activist, advocate and an educator to spread the word and inspire others to make heart health their number one priority." Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. One in four deaths are caused by heart disease. Knowing that heart disease can often be prevented is power. Communities, health professionals, and families can work together to create an opportunity for those with health issues. February is American Heart Month, lets join together to create a difference in the lives of others.

This Saturday, February 6th, join Spence and Lane to help make a difference in the lives of others. 10% off all proceeds are going to the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women! Each purchase makes a difference. In order to make it a gift to you, wear red and receive an additional 10% off of your purchase!

Advice for all:
Use spices to season your food instead of salt. Be a little active, go for a morning walk, instead of hopping in your car every time you're going to the store -- ride a bike. It's the little changes that make a great impact.

GO RED, PREVENT THE SPREAD!

January, please be good to me.

I'm a bit of a clothes hoarder, admittedly. I try to weed out stuff. My girlfriends come over for cheese and wine and go shopping in my wardrobe. They especially love it when they get stuff with a tag still on.
-- Jennifer Aniston

January -- it's that time of the year again, and I'm sure you made a New Years resolution whether it was to quit eating junk food, to get in shape, or to quit hoarding all of those clothes you have stuck in your closet. This is the perfect time to throw out all of the old (new) clothes that you will never wear.

Cleaning out your closet will be such a relief. Why should you do it?
1. It will be easier to find that cute dress or shirt you're looking for.
2. If you don't see yourself in it, why are you holding on to it?
3. More room in your closet = more room for new clothes.
4. Someone else would wear it, instead of a hanger.
5. Cleaning out your closet once a year is a must!!

I'm sure we all have that friend that wants to raid our closet and find something new for them to wear, might as well give them the chance right? Look back up to number three. Are you looking for new clothes? If so, I have the place for you to go! Spence and Lane has some of the cutest new clothes and  I am positive you will find that statement piece you're looking for.

It's a new year get rid of your old clothes and try something new!

Final Page of 2015

Brad Paisley said,
"Tomorrow is the first blank page of 365 a page book. Write a good one."

Now is the time to list out all of those important resolutions for 2016. Beyond the usual suspects, you know -- shedding all that fluff, saving more money, and finding the time to do some yoga -- how about trying a few style-specific resolutions? We all know the new year brings in big sales, who doesn't love sales? I know I do! But, you can't forget the same traditional resolution, saving money. Instead of heading into the new year broke, why not shop your own closet?

We all know it's much easier shopping online or browsing in store for a new outfit instead of looking through all of those hidden treasures your closet holds. I'm quite embarrassed to say I'm one of those people. I'm quick to buy a new shirt or dress before browsing through my closet. Honestly, my closet holds so much that I don't even open the door, what I wear the most hangs on a shelf above my TV. I still have clothing from 2012 with price tags still hanging. To bring in the new year, how about all of us fashion lovers out there take a deep dive into our closet? We'll all be pleasantly surprised with what that madness might bring.

Wait... don't get discouraged, you CAN still shop! If you're looking for a new piece of clothing, invest in a classic piece. Don't go for that trendy aztec print sweater, go for something dark, you can live in that sweater forever. Still wanting to shop? Throw out those old bras that have wires poking out through the side, we all know it's a hard thing to do, especially letting go of your favorite black bra, but invest in a new, comfortable and quality collection of undergarments. No need to keep those loose threads, let 'em go. Lastly, let go of the dark vibe that we all love so much. Bring some color into the new year. It's so easy wearing that same black dress or your oversized t-shirt, but spice up your attire with some colors, don't forget spring will be here soon (or at least March will be).

Take on this New Year with quite a few risks -- even if that means trying those colors you've never touched before in your eyeshadow palette. Maintain a healthy skincare regimen. Get organized. Wear more color. Shop your own closet. And catch those great sales!

P.S, I heard Spence and Lane has a pre-order for Southern Doe long sleeve t-shirts! Get rid of that old, worn out t-shirt and get a new one before they sale out!
